Learning about Aluminum

A current project I am helping with requires aluminum extrusion. I am currently in the process of bringing a high quality extrusion supplier on my line card at Baselodge Group, but this customer’s project requires a special type of supplier.

Having worked in electronics contract manufacturing for a while now, I have not had much reason to learn about aluminum extrusions. Now that I have a need, however, I am learning as much as I can about the extrusion process. A great resource I have found is the website of the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC). This site is a goldmine for learning not only about the extrusion process, but for learning about how aluminum is created from the mining of bauxite to the refining, processing, and creation of the billet that is used in extrusion.

If you have a need for aluminum extrusion, I think you will be pleased with the breadth and depth of information you find at this excellent website.
